I know there is system monitor plasmoid but conky is far more configurable and still loved bo many, conky 1.7 and earlier has got only pseudo-transparency, with feh hook it looks nice as long there is nothing under conky but when you drag plasmoid near conky it naturaly disappear because feh only replace conky's background with cropped wallpaper on the other hand new argb real transparency in conky 1.8 looks great but works only with compositing (enabled desktop effects - not everyone use them not on every hardware is capable to play them smooth).

First idea is to make conky plasmoid but this is probably complicated... second thought is to make other plasmoids float above conky so conky will behave like a integrate part of wallpaper - that would be completely satisfying also it'll make konsole with devil's pie to behave exact same way
