This is so useful that I wonder if nobody has thought of this before:

Complicated way:
If any notification pops up, say "a new e-mail has arrived to your inbox", you should be able to click the notification in order to check out that new e-mail. I call this the complicated way because it implies notifications should be content aware i.e. Focusing Kmail window in that particular new e-mail or taking you to the inbox at least.

Easy way:
In a far more simple fashion, you should be -at least- presented with the application from which that notification came from (Just by means of window focus with no further specific actions)

Comments are very welcome.

This should be for most if not all applications, such as KMail, KGet, etc. Those that do not have specific functions should use the easy way.

Click aware Notifications

When I get new message in Kopete I am given the option to "view" or "ignore" in the notification popup itself. KMail as far as I know has never popped up a notification for new email by default. So I think that it's an application specific option and so developers have to implement it themselves. Is there a specific application you are aiming for?

You are totally right! I guess Kmail and Kget, among another ones I can't recall right now, have to implement more useful notification controls. I mean, it appears that notifications are fine but most applications are barely implementing them.

I really appreciate your comment.

Made the title more specific and added the line at the end: "This should be for most if not all applications, such as KMail, KGet, etc. Those that do not have specific functions should use the easy way."

Approved.
