This Idea has to do with my current Kmail version (4.4.3) in which I had some saved search results, which actually don't seem to work any more. That is to say: the entries under "search results" in the folder-box still do exist, but don't display any emails (though these emails still do exist). Furthermore the properties of the searches have gone.
To organize my emails I have created a number of different folders where I move emails after reading to easily retrieve them when they are needed again. So there is a contacts-folder with numerous sub-folders for people I do regularly exchange mails with or a projects-folder for projects I am working on. But often the decision, where to put an email is not that easy. Some emails are part and important to different projects at the same time, and should also be found as being sent or received by one or more contacts. "Search-Folders" should solve this problem easily: Such Folders automatically perform searches for emails with certain properties and auto-update the results each time they are opened. Using all possible properties of emails (mail-addresses, tags, subject, content-parts, and more) as argument for the search and storing these arguments as properties of the folder itself, search-folders could be integrated as "normal" kmail-folders into the folder-box (though they might use a slightly different icon for identification. Thanks a lot, Jay |

something important that is missing from the current search mechanism, is the ability for one search to include several folders but not all of them.
