Nepomuk in the clipboard

Wed May 12, 2010 1:22 pm
This idea is to suggest ways that Nepomuk can be integrated into the clipboard manager (copy/paste).

  • Copying files into documents or other files can state where the file came from;
    Copying bits of text from one file (text file, document or website) provides information about what file the text came from (to the application, to do something clever with);

  • Copying E-mail attachments into other files gives (the application) information about who it came from, the E-mail it is attached to and possibly the ability to link that person to that file;

  • More cool stuff here.

Workflows:
  • I'm working on a college project and am using several sources online, copying and pasting information relevant to the project into a KWord document. KWord can automatically append a, "sources" chapter for me, automatically adding URLs to information I copied over and can add a raised [x] to the end of pasted text, where x is the number of the source in the appended chapter.

  • A friend of mine has E-mailed me links to several gifts they think my brother would like for his birthday. I copy them into a KJots page, and KJots provides me with a quick link to contact him again and to view the original E-mail. Other people start sending me links as well, which I append to the file: these other people are linked with that text, so that hoverring over that body of text provides a link back to the original E-mails and to send them reply E-mails.
