Would be nice if when you close a katepart text editor, the clipboard was kept on a file to be resumed the next time? Sometimes the function undo/redo may be useful over time... There may be different approaches with different options to this feature, but the end result for me would be very comfortable. Thank you for your attention.

other consideration. I found very useful the introduction of the session management on KDevelop, but also the switching from one session to another resets clipboard ... so I think it becomes important save the clipboard even in this case.

+1 for this, and to extend it to anything that uses the clipboard. I find it a little annoying that if I want to copy something from one application that I want to close to another application, that I need to keep the first one open until I've pasted the content in the other.

When I've copied something, I expect it to stay copied until I copy something else (or log out).

If I understand your needs, this feature is alredy here, thanks to "Klipper - the KDE clipboard cut & paste utility". My brainstorm is a little bit different: is the capability to remember the history of the undo/redo functionality forever (with some limitations of course) for every file into a re-opened "session" even if you close and then restart a katepart application like kate, kvedelop...

This is something for klipper instead. Set "Prevent empty clipboard" and Klipper will ensure that when you quit an program, the last thing you copied from it is available in the clipboard.

Ok, I see; this idea is for when you close a document/session and reopen it again to have the clipboard resumed as you left it. One thing I find a little confusing is your ambiguous references to the distinct functions of clipboard (copy/paste) history and undo/redo history.

The saving of these two items have very different use cases. Saving of undo/redo history would be kind of a secondary file versioning system allowing you to reopen up a file and undo/redo to/from when you first created it (assuming that it wasn't changed by another application which would require either some kind of reconciliation process or tossing the undo/redo history completely), whereas saving the clipboard history would allow for keeping particular snippets 'attached' to a document for future use.

Looking at your request it seems you are blurring these two functions into one by referring to them as "clipboard", but talking about specifically the undo/redo history. So is the request to save the clipboard (copy/paste) history, the undo/redo history or both from an application/document/session to be restored when reopened (or am I missing something and that Klipper takes care of applications' undo/redo history as well as copy/paste history)?
