There's still no solution to screensaver/screenlocker and movie player mischief. Why don't display a warning message, when screen going to lock? It should exist for 5 seconds before screen lock and allows to disable screen locking or disable screen locking for some time.
User could enable screen locking from a tray icon.

I would rather fix the movie player, or have kwin rules to block screensavers when certain windows have focus.

Agree with TheBlackCat. Actually, block screensavers when certain windows have focus looks like an interesting solution, although a little tricky for newbies.

You have right. We should connect this with old disabling mechanism - application should register group of windows, with blocks screensaver, when have focus. Someone should only writes in documentation, that application should unregister themselves, when doing nothing, what need user attention(ex. movie player is stopoed)

I guess we can't monitor X connection activity or IO wait of process?
First is probably impossible due security reasons. Second is impossible due network connections. There could been a way to realize one of above, so we can't do nothing(don't redesign any api, adding new call, etc.) to making disabling screen locking works(application, which have focus will cause screen saver disable once X connection activity from it or IO activity).

Explanation of above. User don't use keyboard/mouse on certain conditions:
- Application does something(active application), so user wait or watching for effects - ex. movie is played, blender render something, Freeciv is handling AI, applications does nothing, but eats a lot of resource(Aughhh!) - User don't sitting near a computer/monitor.
