At the moment, KRunner lets you complete with arrow keys and select other hits with TAB then arrow keys. However, the main reason for using KRunner is to increase productivity by running commands quickly -- having to move your hands away from the home row impedes productivity.

I'd like these keys to be user-configurable. I want to be able to type "fi" and then when I see the letters "irefox" in grey, I press TAB and Return, and Firefox starts up. I want to be able to type "fi" and then Ctrl+n twice, and the third item in the list of hits (eg. "fillets") starts up.

However, this should probably not change the default configuration, as most users probably don't want to change their habits.

(brainstorm.php#idea86011 and brainstorm.php#idea88329 mention more keyboard shortcut ideas, but not user-configurability)
