Is it possible to allow drag and drop from GUI to command line folders? E.G. I wanted to add firefox to my /usr/local folder so I navigated there in Konsole and dragged the folder from my desktop to the Konsole and dropped it in but of course that didn't work.

Would it be at all possible to actually get that to work?

Works for me... And I use 4.4.4...
It might be distro specific (I use KDEmod / Chakra).
But do try again...
I'm also waiting that someone else proves that it works for them. But this seem as pre-exsisting...
It works bot for files owned by me and those owned by root...

afaik, if you drag something into a console, you will get a text-representation of the item dropped (in the case of a folder or a file it will be the path to the item dropped). It seems that jerden69 is asking about copying the firefox _file_ into /usr/local by dropping the firefox icon into an open console whose current working directory is /usr/local, which is not what most people would intend when they drop something into a terminal window.
If jerden69 intends putting the text-representation of the item into the console window, that would seem like a bug somewhere that needs to be fixed. If jerden69 intends copying a file by dropping the icon in the console window, that would be a feature request and I seriously doubt anyone else would really want that.

Thanks for clarifying, don't know how I didn't "see" that the first time...
It's a strange request and I still don't actually know what he wants. I mean I know what he wants, I don't know why would he want that and why would it be necessary.
I'll leave this for other brainstorm mods to decide.
I guess it actually is an valid idea, but is it idea worth pursuing?

This worked back in KDE3 times, the drag-and-drop operation was simply converted to a command line which called kioclient or something like that.

I always thought it was a neat way to use KIO on the command line, especially because I tend to mix graphical file management and file management using the console depending on where a file is and where my terminal points to.

I think you mean the same thing I thought the first time round... and that still works.
At least for me. I can drag and drop a file and get a path to it.
Now I just don't know if this is distro specific or not...
Anyway, as airdik said, I think OP is proposing something different.
But I'm not really sure anymore.

Nope, I really don't :)
On dropping a file in a Konsole window a popup appeared to choose between cp, mv and ln. After selecting one of them the specific operation was carried out (I think using kioclient). You could see the command line that was automatically inserted, but apart from that it had nothing to do with how it currently works. Among other things, it had the advantage that it worked with sftp and other kio-slaves without any hassle for the user.

Well I think this is completely new idea, and you should propose it as a new idea.
And I think (hope) it's pretty easy to implement just a matter of writing a plug-in/service menu..

Hmm. Well, the headline for this idea pretty unmistakably describes what I'm talking about. The summary though is a little confusing because it's talking about Firefox on the desktop (probably a .desktop file) but then goes on to talk about dragging a folder.
Maybe I'm confused, yeah. Sorry, then.

sorry for the cryptic explanation, I'm always switching between command line and GUI so in Konsole i will navigate to a folder e.g. /home/temp and I would then like to be able to drag a folder from e.g. Dolphin or thunar window into the folder that is currently open in Konsole.

It would be very handy because I find it quicker and easier to navigate to folders via Konsole than the GUI. But the folder I have everything in is always open so quick drag and drop and its done.

Sorry for the firefox explanation just take it as a generic folder so not to confuse things.
