Background - the number of devices managed or used as a source by Amarok is expanding (tablets, phones, external hd's, flash drives, mp3players) and there is not yet a good way for the user to see what is connected and view his/her collection at the same time
Issues: 1) the current method of showing an existing connected device is not very useful because if the local collection is expanded the indicator for the connected device shows is at the very bottom of the panel (depending on sort option) and out of the viewing area 2) there may be no visible notification (within Amarok) when a device is recognized (see #1) 3) there is no easy way to see all recognized devices without contracting the local collection being viewed 4) the number of connected devices is expanding inc. the GSOC UPnP project My idea - an always shown area at the top of the local collection panel that contains icons for each device recognized. When the device' is recognized its icon would change color until acknowledged by clicking and when hoovered over it would show details such as mount point, number of tracks, % utilization. After the first click to turn off the just installed indicator subsequent clicks would change focus to that device's collection. |

It already shows on top for me, using latest 2.3.1-git
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

@Mamarok - strange because for me it's the bottom and I am running git from this weekend. Appears to me that devices are sorted same as the collection and my collection is sorted ascending http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/4898/amarok1.jpg
but if I sort descending http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/2594/amarok2.jpg |
