It was suggested that I post this request / question as a possible enhancement request for Amarok similar to an add-on product for iTunes called "Tidysongs" (www.tidysongs.com).
Ideally, the feature would include the ability to: - Search the entire library of content to identify duplicate files and "flag them" with some type of indicator. - There would be different criteria / rules that could be used to determine whether content was a duplicate or not based on artist / title / album or just artist / title, bitrate, song lenght, etc. - Once a duplicate was identified, there would be an option of how to handle the content such as immediate removal (with ample warnings), flagging, or moving to a specific location. - Based on the approach taken, the content database (library) would be updated accordingly. Note: There are a number of other capabilities that exist with Tidysongs, and other programs, including updating missing artwork (that more or less already exists within Amarok) as well as "fixing" song names, album titles, genres, etc. that would also be useful. Please feel free to add any other additional requirements or feature requirements. |

I remember going through my music taking 3 hours to clear out duplicates, I still didn't get them all and I deleted some of my single tracks too.
This would have taken me 10 minutes and saved my missing songs. +1

Please see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=205284
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Uh, Mamarok? That bug is about duplicates in the playlist whereas this idea is about duplicates in your music collection.
