It is quite apparent that most of our gmail data and Google services which most of use .....are not totally private and is mined by Google or who ever .....
Why can't the brilliant minds of the Kde community develop and host web mail servers which can not be mined and exploited for whatever reasons. I can be rest assured that the KDE systems will not be mined and exploited because fundamentally it's not our way. And I will not mind paying for it. Bounce of this idea and let exchange ideas on this freedom thing. For those of us that want to get-off the gmail bandwagon can safely do so. :< |

Hosting is rather expensive.
Even @kde.org mail addresses are not hosted, but only redirected. |

well how about expanding the redirection system not to rival gmail but to make it work for the kde community members somehow and offer it at a cost (reasonably) to assure security and harness the paid money to developers staffed for this purpose

That could possibly work, if enough people wanted to financially support the sysadmin team and pay for the hosting.
---- Somebody marked this as a duplicate of Idea #82886 (brainstorm.php#idea82886) which it isn't - this is not about @kde.org addresses. As stated in the aforementioned idea, @kde.org is not going to be open-for-all. |

I am not implying that @kde.org be open to the kde community at large. The idea of community members having there own secured and modern email services promotes the community wholesomeness and sense of belonging. Now,that beats 2-faced Google and the rest of its "type" harness our recources for private motives and i am really convinced that Google has flipped to the other side. I will love to have KDE AS MY ISP/
