I've looked through the service menu options for Dolphin on KDE-apps.org, but haven't found what I'm looking for...
Is it possible to create a service that would make a selected file (eg wikidpad.py or GTD-free.jar) a "new item" in the KDE menu? There are java and python apps that I haven't put in the KDE menu (but should) because there's no easy way that I've found to do it (other then actually opening up KDE menu editor and adding it). I would like to do it directly from within Dolphin. Can it be done? Or is there already a service for this? |

Moved to brainstorm, since this is a feature request.

I am not sure this is a feature request per-se, the thread creator might have just asked whether it is possible to do it themselves. The answer to that is that this if of course possible with a service menu. Path and filename of can be passed to e.g. a script and this script can create a .desktop file with that information in the appropriate directory.

You will need a script an either have it create a .desktop file for the application or use a template .desktop file and just insert the information about the given file.
Then use this as a service menu entry in Dolphin
