Currently the tooltip is just a box that simply don't indicate were it came from. It just floats near the pointed object.
This idea is for having arrows (like comic balloons) that indicates the origin of the tooltips. |

I would love to see this. (Thanks for doing a mockup, it makes it all very clear)
I suggest posting this to the plasma mailing list. You might get some more attention that way. |

Even that I dont use those tooltips as they just get on the way, the "arrow" is good idea. Altough I hope it would allow themes to choose how it would look.
Like I would like to get that arrow more like smooth slide to the thumbnail. As now the arrow looks by my opinion too much same as GNOME Shell has it. So add to your idea a customization by theme and I vote yes definetely |

Yours seems harder to implement though as it also changes the appearance of the widget, in your mockup the task item. That's the way I want extenders to look, by the way.
