Title says all. I believe it's a good functionality.

You need to be more specific. Would it read and write to the vim settings? Would this be done automatically or manually? Would it be a one-off thing or would kate do it constantly?

It would actually import and export settings. Not actually
share the same file. This should be done manually by an option
to load settings on startup.
