Window group switching

Tue Aug 31, 2010 5:17 pm
Change behavior such that when there are grouped windows (tabbed windows) the shortcut (shift+)alt+tab switches between groups of windows instead of from one window to another, then while holding alt pressing up/down it will switch between windows in a group.

Presentation changes would be made to different window switch effects to show the possibility of navigating up/down within a group; i.e. displaying the windows in the group vertically when the group is selected, displaying the windows stacked or clumped together when they are not.

There is already a keyboard shorcut for switching between tabs. The other two bits are valid idea but are independent. Please post them as separate ideas.

This isn't really two ideas. It is one idea about a change to the window switcher when there are grouped windows - to clump them together and allow a secondary navigation and provide for navigating windows within a group.

The 'other two bits' are not really independent. There is a main idea: clumping of grouped windows in the window switcher, and a sub idea: suggestion for how to change the window switcher effects if the main idea is implemented (if the main idea is implemented then changes would need to be made to the switcher effects, I am only suggesting what seems most straight-forward).
