KMix should be split in a KCM module in system settings from which select devices to use and set channels level, and a plasmoid which permits to control a single channel level (selectable in the applet)

How would that be different, in practice, from what we already have?

It will make the sound management integrated into desktop enviroment. Otherwise, why KDE have systemsettings?
Also will be possible to rapidly access more level, putting more "sound plasmoid" with different settings. |

I see. kcm modules do not necessarily appear in system settings, most configuration dialogs in KDE are kcm modules, as are all of the kinfocenter modules. So just making it a kcm modules does not necessarily imply that it will be in system settings. I modified the idea to make it explicit that you want it in systemsettings.

Thanks TheBlackCat.
I'm reading now how kcm modules work. And yes, you understood what I mean. I'm wondering if would be necessary also a KDE daemon to set new levels. |
