The user should have the ability to share ANY folder he has permissions on and it should be easy as seen in a Gnome Desktop. Just right click a folder and see the Share option. After that the user should have the ability to put the shared name for the folder, permissions for sharing, etc.. All the stuff you see in a samba shared world.
At the moment "trying" to share a folder is hell. The share option only appears inside Dolphin by default and it does not appear on the desktop. Another is that the share option does not appear in the right click context menu. it only appears in the property windows. The sharing is a fundamental part of a system specialy for linux. It should be easy for the user, have multiple options (Like every KDE apps does) and a very good management for it.

Oh yes! This annoyed me so much. It is so easy to access Samba shares right out of the box. They appear in network in their workgroup. But to share files you first need to install samba packages and some weird packages to enable you to configure samba via systemsettings (which does not properly work since you need root access for that and it does not ask you for it).
I dislike Windows but there you just do a right-click on the file, choose “Share” and select “Share” and if needed “Writable” and thatâs it. And if youâre lucky other PCs see the share right away. |

Unfortunately KDE has not control over the underlying samba libraries.
Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor.

I am aware of that but it could at least notify the user about the circumstances and then route him to kpackagekit if needed or something. There has to be a solution.
