Console hints for DE programs.

Sun Dec 05, 2010 12:03 pm
Many and many times I was working with KDE applications (such as NetworkManager) I was feeleng lack of information about how to do the same thing what the program do in the console. So I want to offer a concept of hints for actions in DE programs (such as burning a CD with k3b or establishing VPN connection via NetworkManager). I think this could be a some mode managed in the control center. I hope this could be useful for non-guru linux users that wants to learn how to work with linux console.

Nice idea, but could you elaborate that? Where exactly should such hints be displayed? Would they have to be localized? Should they be managed by Solid?

In my opinion we should see how web browser developers handle this. We should place command monitor in help menu. We could also allow to add a link to a DBus based program to some resources/windows.
