Improving plasmoid resizement

Mon Feb 28, 2011 2:32 pm
Hi, I've noticed something which is quite anoying about plasmoids, look at this screenshot.

Image

Now let's focus on the RSS plasmoid (on the right top), it's a little bit small to read RSS news, so I wanna resize it, I put my pointer on the plasmoid, the little toolbar appear...

The problem is : when you resize a plasmoid, you have to click on the first icon, and move your mouse UPPER to make it be larger.

Do you see the matter ? I have to move the plasmoid on the bottom part of the screen (and in the middle) to resize it properly

so to improve it, I think that the little toolbar should appear :

-on the downer side of the plasmoid if the plasmoid is in top part of the screen

If the plasmoid is on the left part, the mouse would be able to move the right and down sides of the plasmoid

If the plasmoid is on the right, the mouse would be able to move the left and down sides of the plasmoid

-on the upper side if the plasmoid is in the bottom part of the screen

If the plasmoid is on the left, the mouse would be able to move the right and up sides of the plasmoid

If the plasmoid is on the right, the mouse would be able to move the left and up sides of the plasmoid

to allow an easy resizement in any case

Plus : the position of icon to resize the plasmoid should be modified in unction of plasmoid's position in the screen

here's a little mockup

Edited ImageShack links so it goes directly to the picture instead of ImageShack page.

Better yet, why not just add drag handles to the plasmoids like on normal windows?

I don't think there's much to be more precise about... just make it so you can click and drag the edges of a plasmoid to make it bigger, without needing the little thing to pop up on the side at all.

OK envalin, understood, great idea, but what about buttons to delete and rotate the plasmoid ?
