Some of them have already posted an idea to include an icon view to kickoff
brainstorm.php#idea89572_page1 I think it can be improve by adding an option to browse the menu section just by letting the pointer on it, exactly the same option has when you browse sections such as "computer", "exit" or "recently used" The same option could be used to go previous in kickoff david.

I think this is a good idea that would greatly ease the navigation of the menu.
Using the current list-view, the timeout for resting the mouse on the open-submenu area (the right-most 16 px of the item) or the return-to-previous-level area (the current button) can be short (immediate to 100 ms) since the menu is usually very wide and the targets easily distinguishable. Using the icon-view you can't have as short of a timeout (no less than 100 ms) since it is more likely that you will pass by one hover-target on the way to the intended hover-target.

And what about adding an option to set up the timer ?
Because we haven't got all the same reactivity, so adding this kind of option can be a solution david.

I really hate the fact that the menu's do not show on hover when using the kickoff menu, this is the reason I am using both menu's KDE is offering because it's totally anti ergonomics and the fact a users has to click each time in order to open something or go back is 1 time to many.
Still do not understand the philosophy behind this? Trying to be 'different' does not mean being better and I consider this kickoff menu to be a fail until it's being fixed. BTW using Kubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.8 using backports and am very impressed. |
