One of the most irritating and time consuming tasks when when using either MS
Windows/Explorer or KDE/Dolphin or Gnome/Nautilus is to work on many files in different folders with different applications. Especially when the folders are deeply nested. Like I have... The problem is that the applications don't remember the places you are working well. Instead they remember the last folder you worked per application at best. And when you accidentally close the application you can start clicking and scrolling again. The good idea: Let the KDE file open dialog see the folders currently open in dolphin! Like a bookmark for currently opened folders. This way you open 1 or more dolphin's with multiple tabs and just let it sit on the desktop. On file open each KDE application could show a bookmark of currently open folders. And you can reach each file with just 2 clicks from any application. The better idea: Dolphin could have a new view to show a virtual folder (see the wish list) which could be a combination of the contents from multiple open folders. With the file open dialog displaying the virtual folder you can access your file in only one click. This could appear as a bookmark for all files in currently opened folders. Ferry |

not just dolphin, any file/folder that any kde application is currently using, in a virtual folder called "now used"!
Can be done with nepomuk and Zeitgeist, i think |

Ah yes, of course.
So it should work 2 ways: all (kde) apps should publish their currently opened (used) folders. Then from the file open/save dialog you can easily go there. Ferry |
