It's late, you're drinking your favorite energy drink and trying to cram for that exam or finish that website that has been on your mind all day. You are feeling good and getting everything done, but your eyes are killing you. You screen is too bright. You can't adjust the brightness because judging color is important when studying for art exam or designing a website, so you leave it on your normal settings and your eyes get blasted with more light.
Wouldn't it be cool if your theme automatically changes based on the time of day it is? Windows would get darker, icons would become desaturated, and your desktop wallpaper would change to something a little more muted. The picture you are looking at for art, or the website you are designing in Gimp would stay the same color. Only the interface would darken. http://www.alanjames1987.com/kde/Day.png http://www.alanjames1987.com/kde/Night.png |

I guess this could probably be coded into a theme engine (not just using Aurorae), but I might suggest maybe taking advantage of the ambient light sensors on many modern day laptops. Most of the time, they simply dim the screen; this would actually adjust the contrast as well as brightness depending on the lighting situation, not necessarily the time of day.

I have suggested something like that already outside these forums, and from what I understand it should be possible with the upcoming Contexts - rules under which actions are triggered.
e.g.: - if local time > 21:00, change colour scheme, background etc. and lower bightness - if WiFi on SSID "my_company" > start and focus on "Work" Activity and suspend all other activities - if WiFi SSID or location reveals your school library > mute sound, focus on "Study" Activity Most definetly +1
It's time to prod some serious buttock!
