Dolphin's structure as a file manager allows it to do some amazing things through the use of services. With this in mind I believe it would be a nice idea to easily rotate images from within the file manager. Dolphin allows "Actions" to be added to the right click context menu, different actions will be shown depending on the object(s) selected. Instead of having to open an image editor or photo management application every time you want to just rotate an image, it would be nice to have the option to rotate the image(s) left or right every time you right click on image files within Dolphin. Here's a mockup for how it could look.
This idea was originally posted on my blog. http://bsmith1012.blogspot.com/2011/03/my-kde-ideas-rotate-images-within.html |

Nice, I will see if I can implement this.
Basically, this would just need two .desktop files and some change to the MakeLists.txt for those files being installed and thats it. And talk to Peter to commit it, of course *g* |

that would be awesome! it would save a ton of time instead of having to open each photo just to rotate it. thanks!

The thing itself is already done. I just need to talk to some Dolphin developer to make it auto-refresh. So you right-click an image file, choose Action and there you have Rotate left and Rotate right and Auto-rotate (for JPEG with alignment information). But then it needs you to hover the respective file for the thumbnail being updated. I'll see what I can do about that. But the basics are already done.
