im using search and launch plasma layout, but some things could be more powerfull and others with more options.

1- Problem: when you search for a picture why cant see the preview?, not the tooltips

Solution: you search and you can see the picture preview, if you open a image dont open gwenview, better is use kio.

2- Problem: using dolphin/konqueror for search is nice, sometimes you prefeer a fullscreen mode and other days a window mode.

Solution: use kio again, so you can click in files and start in a semi-fullscreen browsing for files, if its a pdf, again use kio for view the file. The idea is always keep the user under search and launch.

Of course you can show options for search with nepomuk, sort, etc.

Always you can hit ESC y return to search and launch.

How you can see, the idea is allow an easy mode of opening/preview files, so the user doesnt needs open dolphin, gwenview, pdf, etc.

PD: have more ideas to adds, expect some mockup soon.

So if I understand correctly, you want to add previews and file browsing to the Search and Launch activity?
afaik, KIO doesn't provide previews, it just provides the transparent file access between local, network, and virtual file systems. I think you mean the file browse kpart that Dolphin and Konqueror share to provide the file browsing and previews.

I agree that it would be nice to have those capabilities in the Search and Launch activity.

Please split up your ideas into separate ones so that they can be tracked separately.
