Firstly, forgive me my English.
Xorg on my laptop doesn't recognize properly modes of external monitor. I've got 24" fullhd monitor but the highest found resolution is 1024x768. Of course in KDE configuration no other resolution can be selected. It is easy to solve. Firstly, I've got to generate the modeline:
Then using the output I've got to add a new mode:
And finally add the mode to the monitor:
After it in KDE configuration new resolution can be selected. Of course all of these can be done using xorg.conf file. But there is one problem. I don't use xorg.conf file, it is empty. A think, that most simple users never looks at this file. My idea is to add to KDE configuration ability to set a custom resolution. All those command I used would be then run automatically. I think its quite easy to develop. We could even link this idea with this one: brainstorm.php#idea94280_page1 And give users possibility to create profile with more then one custom resolution.
