We use files everyday.
We have custom to see different icons per filetype. A specific icon for image files and other icon for video files. But not all likes that or even could use that. How many remembers the times of 1980's when files and folders had just same icons and apps different? Today we have 24bit colors used in icons, we have hundreds of different filetypes and we can use to notice easily what file is what. But they dont always reflect the style or theme what we want to use. Or we do not simply want to see so many colors in filemanager. There is no way to change all specific group filetypes icons to onekind without groing trough every single type in the group when using Systemsettings. Example for image group, there are dozens of mimetypes than just jpeg, png, tiff, xcf and so on. Changing all of them to same, takes lots of time and is actually boring. And what if you want to change them to other? Go all again. Here is the suggestion, change the configuration tool to be used in group same as it is per mimetype. Top image is what is current status, bottom image is what it would be: The current view for group is same as what is for embedded tab in mimetype settings. This idea change to things: 1. Allow changing easily all mimetype icons to one kind if wanted. Those who do not want, does not even see the setting or need to do anything so it does not consern them. Some people just gets change to configure their theme more flexible ways than before. 2. The tabs "General" and "Embedding" are same for group and per mimetype. |

The mime type handling interface in general needs a lot of work.

What you had in your mind? For me right now with quick look it is "enough". But you are correct, it could have little of "love".
