The printer configuration now looks like this:
It feels weird and not similar to any other configuration in KDE. It would be great if it was improved, Here's an idea: There should be a "tab" (I don't know how they're called) called General, the server settings show be there. For every printer installed in the system there should be another tab named as correspondant print, settings specific to that printer should go there. It might not be the best, however I think it better than current design . |

True. It does look very out of place.
The left side should have the conventional icons with text: - Printers - Server Settings - Maintenance - etc. Inside Printers would have a list like Network Manager with the Add, Edit and Delete buttons to the right. Tabs up top to differentiate local printers from network ones. I can't think of any more to add right now. |

Dantti (Apper maintainer) has been working on a complete overhaul of the printer dialog for some time but has no time to finish it, thought It looks so nice but the most important feature - adding new printers - is not yet done, so it is not finished.
http://dantti.wordpress.com/2010/06/02/ ... rovements/ You can find it in KDE Git repositories, clone it, and start hacking |
