I'd like to be able to set up a 'folder watch' and when something happens in that folder, a pre-defined action takes place.
For example, when I download Music from my eMusic.com account into my Downloads/ folder, I'd like to have the .mp3 files trigger a script which applies replay-gain tags, and then moves the files to my ~/Music/ folder. Another example may be, when a folder gets updated/changed, Apache2 server is restarted (perhaps by a script). A good implementation of this likely would allow scripts or pre-defined actions, with a pluggable 'Get new stuff' backend to have other users contribute new actions. Thanks for KDE! |

There is a "Magic folder" widget what made that for dropped files. It could trigger wanted scripts for specific file types or move/copy them to configured directories.
You can find it from GHNS. The destiny can be a script. So first make a script what executes your wanted functions and then last moves them to wanted location. But I think what you would want is a "smart directory" in filesystem what can be used by any app than just dragging files on widget. |
