Change preview for font installer.

Sat Jan 07, 2012 3:26 pm
Hi all!

This is a tiny idea I had when writing a file with a new font I installed: it did not have all characters :-/ (I'm french and we lOOOOOve accents & strange letters). So it will be great for each country to have it's own (if not all) pangrams.
For instance:
EN: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"
ESP: [...]
and so on and so forth ;)
Perhaps also both Caps and little characters?

You indeed address a general problem with font previews.

However, I think there is a better, or maybe more flexible way:
some font previews allow to type or past own text to be rendered. I think that way is even more successful in deciding if a font is the right one for a specific purpose at hand.
Maybe there is a compromise: the ability to store the last previewed text persistently. This adds personalisation and could be done in the general font preview widget engine.

@arkasha: The problem is: I never thought of having my own pangram to test and I don't think much people have their own to test.
So I propose like: Have a pangram for each language and being able to modify it to suit your own needs. That'll be great. (And actually better since even if I'm french, I also write German and therefore use the "ß").
