People need to find the keyboard shortcuts quickly if they want to move away from the mouse to a faster interaction mode. Tooltips when we hover a toolbar button could show the corresponding keyboard shortcut on a second line.

Do you mean toolbar items when you say "button", or do you also mean regular buttons (with Alt+<letter> shortcuts)?

Yes, I meant toolbar items. This is the behavior of some windows apps but I think the best would be to automatically integrate it. |

Hi,
visualizing the keyboard shortcuts right next to the corresponsing menu entry or clickable icon absolutely makes sense. Show the shortcut where it takes place, not burried deep down in some config dialog. But I suggest not to use tooltips for that. There is an inflation in the usage of tooltips for all and every thing. Often you cannot really use an application any more if you have tooltips enabled. This is especially true for those tooltips that actually keep you from clicking something below them. Instead I suggest a special, system wide modifier combination. When pressed it visualizes any shortcut defined for the current context, that means for the application, its menu and the currently focused entry. This way you always have a "explore shortcuts" sequence available without having to think but these tooltips are not in the way / confusing / annoying. arkascha |

Maybe its possible to use %tokens. [x] Custom button tooltips "%Desc (%shortcut)".
