I use Klipper on KDE extensively and find it an awesome tool. Since I am a programmer, I usually prefer keyboard shortcuts + typing to using the pointing device. For clipper I would like the following proposal:
Proposal: - When in a text box, I want to press "Klipper paste". E.g. mapped to Meta+V - This opens up the klipper popup with only the history entries (without the config stuff). The popup should open under the caret position - When I start typing I want to be selecting from the current clipboard contents - When I select an item and press Return, the contents should be automatically pasted A possible solution would look like this: http://postimage.org/image/skpk6hsc5/ Analysis: It would seem that most of the bits and pieces are already implemented in klipper. The real challenge could be the positioning of the popup. The Desktop might not know the location of the caret. All other functionality should be trivial (including the automatic pasting). This is already done by the "text snippets" plasma widget Motivation: This feature would make pasting text from klipper a lot more seemless and user friendly. Going to the task bar is sub optimal. I am also aware of the "open klipper at mouse position" option. This however is not as nice as the proposal because: 1) it opens "at random" when I type text. I usually ignore the mouse position when I type. So the mouse could be anywhere (even on a different screen!) 2) It does not automatically paste Current Workaround: Currently I have Klipper set to open on "Meta+V" on the cursor position. Then I can select an entry and have to press ctrl+v again |
