The workspace cashew, when moved from the corner, indicates the current activity. I would love to be able to include this workspace cashew into a panel. Together with the system tray and a clock, this would make a nice information panel.

Personally I would love to see the cashew live entirely in the panel, whether it shows an activity there, or is just a cashew/special icon in it. If it is in the panel like the desktop cashew when normal and at a panel corner, and used in place of/merged with the special panel cashew that comes to exist when the desktop is unlocked, this behavior seems even better to me.
