While moving to clouds, the difference between local and remote resources disappears. (and yes, we also have a lot of virtual resources available via kioslaves!)
In which category should we place the OwnCloud remote drive? Which category is for kioslave:/photos ? This kind of places makes me frustrating in win7. I'm absolutelly against this idea.

It's question how will be implemented. Shure fixed categories will be suboptimal and not very kde-ish. But what if you have the chance to create own categories and can move your stuff from one to the other? |

1) Icons are more mono-color what makes the content more important and makes the side panel look better (personal tastes but clutter is clutter) 2) Eliminating wasted space for search filters (today, yesterday etc) by "All my files" from what you can filter. Gives more space for favorites and removable devices. 3) User can not collapse or open groups if there is enough space for them That is one reason why I would prefer color background for groups (single items) or small lines instead groups headers in Dolphin and other KDE applications. |

Ahhh and if there isn't enough space then the groups are collapsible. Nice feature. If read your ideas for seperation with colors and serparation through lines. My main contra point is that there is no possiblility to collapse them. Next to sorting and visual seperation the main focus should be to get more space in the places panel. That's why a +1 for collapsible groups. To give you some examples. I've got 7 partitions on my disk. For visually clearness I've hide them but sometimes I realize that I need them. I would like to have my favorite and often used folders in the places panel but without collapsible groups it would result in a long list. There are plans for implementing some more kio_slaves for online ressources. But there you would also have the problem of a long list. Something like https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=38043 would fit better to such demands. |
