I think we can safely say that today, the web browser is the central application in a desktop user's life.
IMO, the Opera guys have a good understanding of that concept since they provide built-in email client, rss reader, note taker, and some more stuff. The idea here is to provide a kmail and an akregator "kpart" (and why not others) embeddable into konqueror. Those parts would be accessible through the konqueror sidebar, which could be configured to show the desired elements. (show bookmarks, show files, show mail, show rss). They would show up in a new tab. I know this behaviour is heavily inspired by the opera browser but i think it is *very* comfortable to get seamless access to such key elements in nowadays daily browsing without having to hop between different windows. Considering the deep integration that the kde architecture provides, i guess it wouldn't be too mush a hassle to implement since kontact already does this in its own way. These features could be provided as plugins so that people who dislike "all-in-one" applications can get a barebones web browser.

KMail and Akregator are already available as KParts.

Well i'm sure they do since they're integrated into Kontact.
But the idea was about embedding those into Konqueror. Is there any available way to do that ? If so, i would be very pleased to know about it

Use imap://, pop3:// and smtp:// to use the KMail KParts.
Use rss:// to use the Akregator KPart.

Now this is _very_ interesting.
Except that it doesn't work atm... Is there something special to add after the '//' in those addresses, like localhost or stuff ? I'm trying to find some guide on how to use kde kparts but cn't find anything helpful

Yeah, you'd do something like, "imap://supermadman@jabber.org". Then it comes up with a username/password dialogue (if required).

Those IO slaves will display a view of your folders, but using a file manager style, not integrating a mail client.
