KDE4 needs a Media Manager like KDE3, say when I pop a DVD in my computer I will get a window asking me if I want to open it in a player of my choice.
I also want this to have a systemsettings section, where I can edit my default players for my media. Maybe even have something like default applications, where in this new Media manager section I can set the defaults to all my media types. Such as setting the app I want to open .avi's in, or .wmv's, a sort of a workaroun of the default apps setting i admit but more focused on media then all formats. |

Default players for media already exists in the form of "File Associations" ( under Advanced ). KDE 4.3 will ship with a device actions editor, that will allow users to easily add actions that can be selected upon connecting a device.
Finally, the Media Manager section just needs some modifications to the Solid User Interface KDE Daemon module to watch for new devices through Solid.

Yeah, I am running trunk and this is already available.

Since it's available in trunk, I'll mark it as implemented.
