Add sessions to konqueror just as they work in kate.
e.g. When working on a web site, I may have one tab open to the page I'm working on, one tab open to an ftp session, one tab open to an images directory on my local drive, and one tab open to some documentation. I would like to save this as a session so when I work on this site again, I can simply load the session like I do in kate. Then maybe we need a "project" manager that will open kate AND konqueror to a session so the files I am editing in kate will be viewed in my browser. This could be coupled with deep bookmarks so konqueror would not only restore the session but take you back to the same place on the page. This is not the same as saving the whole desktop and restoring it on boot. This would allow quickly changing projects and help in remembering what was worked on last. Also, having just one default "home" page isn't enough. Sessions would also allow one to load their usual sites when konqueror is started. |

Konqueror already supports sessions, but under the name "Profiles". You can access it from the "Settings" menu.

Yeah, but as far I know the is no way of getting konq to automaticly save the active session when closing, and automaticly restore it on start. Opera does it by default, Firefox can be set to do it. My humble wish is that this would be a choice in the "show when konq start option list". Please? |

Whenever I need to keep a set of browser windows open, I just leave them on a different desktop. And if I don't close them when I log out of KDE, they get restored any time I log back in. In addition, all the other related applications get restored to the same state I left them in (except Konsole).

I know... I just can't get myself not to close the window. Since it still stays in the panel whatever desktop it's on my reflex is to close it. If I would be able to place the panel on another desktop, and just there, I would forget that I got a browser running, and start a new one. I close and restart my browser several times per hour. I saw a forum post suggesting assigning a keycombination to save the current session which he used whenever he closed konqy. I tried but I forgot it all the time. I use my computer on instinct, the brain's not engaged. Since all parts are already written (saving session, restoring session) I thought it would be a good idea to add this function. ~25 lines of code? I know, I know, why don't I write it myself if it's that easy? Cos' compiling the code and making the change persistant over updates it not very easy. |

That would be a new idea. Seems like it's already been posted here.
