Yesterday I played a bit on laptop which belongs to my friend (Ubuntu 9.04 installed) and noticed one awesome feature.
You put mouse cursor over a "sound mixer" icon that's in the system tray, and with mouse wheel going up and down, volume is changing. No need for any clicking, opening menus etc. Simply, fast and effective way. I would really like to see that implemented in KDE4x. Peace out |

This is already implemented - start KMix and scroll its icon.
<tip>You can also mute/unmute by middle clicking on the icon.</tip> |

Does the volume change if you click on the icon and drag the slider? If not, you might have to adjust the master channel: Right click on icon -> Select Master Channel...
By the way, did you know that this also works with Amarok's icon? You can also middle click to pause/play and ctrl+mouse wheel to play next/previous song (at least in 1.4.x, not sure it still works in 2.x as I don't have it installed on this computer). |

I just did that and it works! Thanks for the Amarok tip too, didn't know that either. |

The feature is great. The only comment I have is that I can't find a way to configure the amount of volume change that happens while using the mouse wheel in KMix. Mine changes in 5% increments, which is a very large change on my system. I would like to find a way to configure it to change in 1% increments.
