I'm often browsing around directories in konqueror, organising files and putting them in the right places, deleting ones I don't need, etc etc.
I often find myself needing to delete all .WAV files from a directory, (after a batch MP3 encoding for example), or put a directory listing (from ls) into a text file, or some other thing that's quicker on the shell than in a file browser. My idea is to have a shortcut key pop up a little box at the bottom of the window, for example, that's essentially a one line terminal (or however high I choose) in which I can type shell commands in the current directory |

There already is the facility to have a konsole open in the directory that you are browsing. F4 toggles it. If you have split windows the konsole will open in the directory that the active side of the split is viewing.
