slowly I get used to plasmoids and find out more and more advantages.
However, the app to select them is rather basic. Even with roughly 20 plasmoids installed on my system I have to search through the whole list again and again, when I try to find one I already know, it's worse if I look for a function I do not know of a plasmoid that implements it. The list is a mess, the categories don't really help, as they are not clearly seperatable. Plasmoid count will increase heavily in the future as these little helpers will become more and more common for a certain class of tasks. So: to make more and easier use of plasmoids, a better plasmoid-selector is essential. It would be best, if the selector is more kind of a browser (plasmoid tree on the left, description on the right), where you can find information of the capabilitites and features of the plasmoid, perhaps even a small video that shows it working, at least a link to a youtube video for that purpose. I still have no clue, what e.g. the Bball is intended for (besides nice nonsense). A better selector app will greatly improve usage of plasmoids and show more clearly than before the real powerful advantage of the KDE 4 desktop. |

This is already being worked on for KDE 4.4, see http://www.wouwlabs.com/blogs/anniec/?p=95 for example.
Note that these screenshots don't reflect the current state.
