I like plasmoids more and more.
problem: Some plasmoids I do need on all virtual desktops, others only on one or two. Others even get on my nerves when they appear on all desktops... Also: as plasmoids these days always appear on all desktops, no matter how many virtual desktops I have, I have only the limited space of one desktop for plasmoids, as these appear on all virtal desktops the same way. wish: would be great, if I could comfortably select on which desktop a plasmoid should appear. You could make one desktop the 'internet and cooperation' desktop, one the 'music and multimedia desktop' and so on, each with the respective plasmoids on them. What are virtual desktops for, if not to have different applications AND different plasmoids on them. |

You can set to link activities with virtual desktop. So that you can have plasmodis only on certain desktop.
You can also add a special activity for dashboard, which is same on all virtual desktops. I think that most of your idea is already possible. Only thing not possible is having one plasmoid "pinned" to more than one activity. I think this idea was proposed before. But I'm not sure.

I don't know if you understood me correctly. Even with you're rewrite your idea still mostly wishes for something that it's already there. If you unlock your widgets and zoom out you''ll see an option to add a new activity. You can add new plasmoids to this activity.
You then just add activity bar and you can chnage between activities. Also in zoom out mode (so that you can see both of your activities) you can set that your activites are linked to your virtual desktops. You can also set a special activity which is then same on all virtual desktops. So only idea that is new in your idea is pin plasmoid to all virtual desktops. But I think it was proposed before. I just can't seem to find it.

ok, i understood what you say. I never used that function and must admit it is really crazy.
However: this function of adding an activity adds not another desktop but something that is rather one level above a desktop. Ok, there is a plasmoid to switch activities. But wouldn't it be far easier, if activities and virtual desktops weren't two separate concepts but every virtual desktop can host an activity and a selection of plasmoids? |

Actually, it can. Using the zoom-out method mentioned by Primoz, you'll find an option of configuring plasma. There you can "map" activity to virtual desktop which gives you the opportunity to have different plasmoids for different desktops. However, it doesn't give you the opportunity to pin a plasmoid to an arbitrary (all, just a few etc) desktops. To accomplish that, you need to add the plasmoid as many times as required.
