Sometimes when you try to open a file (in my case, I click on an attached jpg image I received via email in Icedove [unbranded Thunderbird in Debian]) you get a dialog about: "What should [application] do with this file"
When you choose: "Open with --> Other..." you get a file dialog window to choose your helper application. I think it would be an improvement if you wouldn't get the file dialog window to choose your helper application but instead could choose the helper application by navigating through your "Application Launcher Menu" i.e. you select: Graphics --> Gwenview rationale: this way you don't have to know where the application you want to use is installed - novice users most likely don't know this |

This is an issue with GNOME applications / Mozilla applications only. KDE applications natively provide the functionality requested.

ok, that's what I thought. However, some Gnome/Mozilla applications are quite popular among KDE users, so I think this is still a good idea if technically possible. |
