why is there no qt/kde alternative to the gecko-mediaplayer. there is no way to play media streams in kde browsers like rekoq and konqueror.
Before anyone says they can play stuff or download....I am expecting streams from sites like
http://trailers.apple.com/ to be viewable in the browser window.
Thanks

There's KMPlayer http://kmplayer.kde.org/

From the website : "The KMPlayer KPart plugin for Konqueror mimics QuickTime, MS Media Player and RealPlayer plugin browser plugins."

Never tried it though.

EDIT : I installed kmplayer from subversion and tried the apple trailers website in konqueror and rekonq and it won't work, there's a message asking to install quicktime. But I quickly tried some quicktime files on other random websites and the kmplayer kpart works in both konqueror (4.5.95) and rekonq (git).

How is this already implemented? can the mods give examples before deciding it is implemented. Most of the plugins do not work, please provide evidence of this being implemented, I would like to use it.

Hey, sorry, when I gave the link to kmplayer and made some tests with it, I just wanted to help. Didn't want to close your brainstorm idea !

Maybe moderators are considering kmplayer as a "pre-existing" solution, even if it half working...

well you can attest to it that it doesn't work, there is a VLC browser plugin too but nothing really works like it should, this topic should at least be re-opened or the mod needs to pont us to the right solution
