Hi! I've come up with an interesting idea and I wanted to share it.
KDE's desktop can be customized in a lot of ways... panels, widgets, etc. It would be great if it was possible to save the configuration of the entire desktop layout, including panels, widgets, hot corners, dashboard, settings, etc. Then you could browse between saved desktop layouts, and even share them on kde-look. When you experiment with panels and widgets, you could quickly revert to an earlier saved layout if you don't like your results. And when downloading them from kde-look, it would display a warning if some needed widgets aren't installed, and offer the option of automatically downloading it, if it's available. Peple could create interesting desktop layouts and it would be easy to get them, with just a few clicks. I think it would be awesome |

Just use activities to do this. Each activity can have their own setup.

I know this is a necropost, but the mod didn't even read the original post (or at least didn't understand it). I imagine that may have killed this topic.
Anyways, I absolutely love that idea, and I would be happy to upload my own. |

I second that Sweyn78. The idea is one thats been tossed around a bit concerning "The Megatheme/Metatheme" thing. One simply, one-click theme that alters your desktop from the ground up, based on that one huge chosen theme.

It looks like you can install activity templates via GHNS. What seems to be missing is a straight-forward way to create and upload templates. As a result, there are only 4 templates on kde-files.org, and there really should be many more.
