Some features from KHTML would be very useful in WebKit. For example native KDE-widgets.

Using a live version of Rekonq that I updated just today, it doesn't even pass the acid3 test. I think this goes to prove my point: patches would just take too long to implement, because they'd have to go to Apple, get approved and merged, come out with the new stable release, then be merged into Qt and finally get a new Qt stable release, which doesn't happen very quickly at all.

In my opinion a qt4 version of chromium (it's open source) was the best option!
Someone already start coding https://www.ohloh.net/tags/chromium/qt |

I have the feeling that Konqueror is being progressively left back exactly because most KDE users tend to use Firefox instead. I started using KDE when firefox wasn't even there, got addicted to Konqueror and its perfect integration in KDE, and every time I tried to use Firefox I was quickly shocked at how horribly slow, bloated and difficult to tweak it was. It felt like walking with wooden shoes. Still now Konqueror is my main motivation for using KDE. I only use FF
on sites that don't like Konqueror, and that happens much less in KDE4 (and that's one of the few novelties I liked btw). Not sure how dropping KHTML will impact Konqueror, but I have the feeling it will not help.. |
