That occurred to me, the problem is that it takes up additional space that not everyone has.

Why not to have 3 columns like title, Progress, Title&Progress?
So users could choose for the best option. (Unless this would take much more of working hours)

For progress column, I would like to have an option to show only percentage of progress if width is lower than eg 30px, so it could fit in small displays

Basically, the systemtray currently only has access to this information, to have more than one accessor of this information, it requires a lot of reworking on the backend.

Is that what was added to trunk for kdebase?

I got an new folder in workspace named sok-progress-in-icons

I am guessing that is the start. Also, that it is tied in too closely to current trunk to add to playground?

This has not been added to Trunk at this time due to the feature freeze.

Yesss, good one !

I hope KDE will integrate this feature and will integrate it very soon (and 54 votes is a think we don't see so often) !
This is just awesome... gawsh ! How could no one think about it sooner ?

This is so great !
God bless that idea !

Hm, I wish the forum would notify me of replies... I guess I will have to try to check it more often...hopefully this new forums version will be much more nice, seems like it holds true so far..me likes the look ;D

As for it being added to trunk, that was purely accidental... messed up a branching command, and accidentally did a 'branch $dest $src' ... so it it took what I had and copied it into what I wanted to be copied into mine. I must have been very tired that night ;)
Added to the hall of developers messing up revision control systems ;P

I'm going to have to pry myself away from the code to post another entry on my blog eventually (hopefully very soon), for another status update...

What I love about this is it keeps status information together with the data being acted on. This is much easier to understand than a plasma notification (however neat they might be).

I'd love to see more of that :-)

Even cooler, how about if you are moving it, the file "dissapates", pieces coming off at a time and reappearing at their new location.

Deleted could just slowly melt, and downloads could be built up as well.

I believe we could use the file name as the progressbar. The icon size is then not the problem. Or the view style. The filename is always there. And even that file name is different by lenght, it would show the progress well. There would be no magical end or limiting the process to the size of the row.

This would be made if there would be a colored backgrounds for file names.

If I remember correctly, it is in the trunk. I only remember someone blogged about it being done as summer of code project or something.
