Konqueror now has support for blocking ads. However, advertisement companies are always coming up with new ads, so trying to keep up with it is a losing battle. However, there are groups that provide regularly updated lists of ads for adblock programs like adblockplus for firefox. Konqueror does not support these online advertisement lists at all, it can only use lists stored on a local drive.

It would be nice if konqueror not only supported advertisement lists stored at remote locations, but if it also gave users the opportunity to regularly download updated lists from such locations (either every time the program starts or at certain regular intervals). This is probably not as trivial as it sounds, since Konqueror would need some way to keep track of which list each specific adblock rule came from so it didn't end up with thousands of duplicates.

Could you please link any of those sites which provide adblock lists?

Since KDE is increasingly thriving towards community collaboration from the desktop itself, would it be possible to integrate not only subscriptions (as passive protection), but also enable the user to somehow participate in creating white and black lists?

KDE could either have their own lists, or if there are lists out there already that are maintained by a community, it would be awesome if Konqueror users could by adding (and e.g. pressing the "share" button) an entry to their lists, contribute to the white lists of others.

Hmmm, KNewStuff comes to mind here as well ;)

This is implemented but will not be available until 4.5.

This is usually for one of a few reasons, which could include that it was implemented after feature-freeze (which means it won't go into 4.4), it's considered too immature/unstable for the next stable release (I think this is the most likely reason), or it just doesn't work yet (which can mean a few things).
