Thanks! I checked the package and it seems like /usr/bin/ksuperkey (in data.tar.xz) is a symlink pointing to /media/data/RES/Sources/ksuperkey/ksuperkey. Is it supposed to be like that? I don't know much about how .deb files work.

Sorry, was testing my own unfinished utility for building deb files, and it seems to pack sonething strange...
The files from /media/data don't need to be included, of course. These are my local files. I'll fix it now, I think...

Yes, I forgot about tar's --dereference option while packing internal archives for deb.
If somebody still wants to use my packages after this fail, this is fixed version: ksuperkey_0.1-2_i386.deb.

Sorry for not answering earlier, I didn't notice your post. Subscribed to this topic so it won't happen again.

Short answer: I don't use Ubuntu and don't know how to create packages for it. However, if someone else does it, I would be happy to link to it from the KDE-Apps page (which I've done for the 0.1 version). I don't know what's required to get it into an official repo either, but I'm sure there's a standard procedure for it - feel free to file a request or whatever you're supposed to do.

By the way, ksuperkey 0.3 was just released which should compile fine on systems with newer X.Org versions.

It is not a very good long run solution, but it could still help those in need

What I really hate about those modifier keys is Alt's behavior: if you press it like a letter, you navigate in the menu: completely useless and loss of time (tiping error once sent me 3 pages backward without me noticing).

If Super/Win ever behaves like Alt, I hope it'll be possible to disable it (as I would really like to with Alt "single press").

Woah it's a shame we can't implement this simply. As some comments state, it's higly convenient to just be able to click the meta key and be able to pop that up.

Is there an open bug anywhere that we can help fix? I know a bit of programming.

Awesome! thought that solution wasn't a permanent one. Will investigate and see if I can do some testing.

Sorry, I am quite new, will this be in when I install next version of KDE?

EDIT: is there any way to install this without having to compile anything? reason is I'm trying to keep my desktop pristine!

Thanks for all the hard work. It's the first time I am using KDE, and I love it so far. It is, IMHO, the best desktop solution there is.

re: package - if you go to the kde-apps.org page for the app you will find some packages, as this is not an official app it would be up to your distro or a 3rd party to package it
