Performing actions as root

So can anyone tell me how it's implemented?
I asked here (brainstorm.php?mode=idea&i=39250&page=1&c=154412#anchormain) but still can't see it in KDE 4.5.

I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be in KDE 4.6.

It doesn't appear to be implemented in 4.6 either.
Are there any expectations to see something soon?

Yes, the backend has been implemented, but now they need to actually implement the functionality in applications. I think this was intended for 4.6 but there wasn't enough time, so it was pushed back probably to 4.7. It is still in the works, though.

These are good news. Hope there'll be some functionality in the 4.6.x series

Generally speaking new features are not implemented in a x.x.x release, only x.x releases.

One year later, after two major versions, at least dolphin still doesn't implement this feature :(

I'm missing a function where i can easily perform an action with root privileges. E.g. I'm browsing through the filesystem with dolpin or konqueror and try to edit/delete/copy/... a file, where I need root privileges for. But since I'm logged in as user, I have to start a new application instance as root or use konsole and sudo.
I would like to see a function to switch quickly to something like a "root mode" (and back to "user mode").
This could be done with a toolbar button "root mode". When clicked, it asks for the root password and the next actions will be done as root. Another click on the toolbar button leaves the "root mode".

I like this idea about switching to root in an easy way.
