konqueror ~ and/or other file managers,
idea: right-click-in-window menu includes view/sort options. (its a habit i still havnt shaken, 5 years removed from a ten year mswindows conditioning) incase thats misunderstood, to reiterate; ... the sort options found in view/sort from the window menu are included in the menu produced from right clicking in a folder/window.

This sounds like a good idea, definitely gets my vote. The post title has had additional detail and tags added.

I don't think any GNU/Linux program does this. Moreover, the column titles are right there. Why clutter the user experience for no good reason? It should be rather easy to learn how it works. Breaking some of the habits that are trained in other operating systems is actually necessary, otherwise we will have all ways of doing something on all systems.

A patch for this was recently accepted. It will probably be in KDE 4.6
