I think having the possibility to embed plasmoids into the system tray would be an awesome feature.
Some Plasmoids, like the Networkmanager plasmoid, are just occupying empty space in the taskbar, as you don't really need them to be visible all the time. Embedding it into the system tray and auto-hiding it, would save you the space the plasmoid needs, but you would still have the plasmoids functionality. This could be especially helpful for small sized displays, like the ones in those "Netbooks". (There are probably a lot of other use cases for this feature too )

I second this. There is no reason - from the user pov - for the mixer to live in the systray and the battery monitor outside.
Allowing the latter to live in the systray would be nice, but then why the former couldn't live on the desktop? This is a usability issue, some formalism should be applied to the class of applets that displays one icons in "small mode." Regards, Charly |
